GREETINGS OF THE HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT DEPUTY PROFESSOR ANTONIOS KARAGEORGOS
"Dear Mr. Mayor of Karditsas, Mr.President of TEI of Thessaly, Mr.President of the Department of Food Technology, Mr.colleague professors of TEI Dear students, ladies and gentlemen,
We welcome you to the Department of Design and Technology of Wood and Furniture, of TEI of Thessaly, where for the first time the swearing in of postgraduate students who have successfully completed the postgraduate program "Advanced Methods of Manufacturing Wood Products" will take place.
Our Department is at the forefront of Technological Research and Innovation and has gained a very good reputation for the knowledge and skills it equips its students with.
As demonstrated by the recent evaluation carried out periodically by the Quality Assurance Authority in Higher Education in the Department of Wood and Furniture Design and Technology, a significant number of research projects are carried out in collaboration with businesses in the sector and scientific bodies from Greece and abroad. In addition, consulting support services are provided to businesses and organizations, educational seminars are organized in scientific subjects and in addition, for two years now, a postgraduate study program has been operating with great impact, which is chosen to expand their knowledge not only by graduates of our Department but also by graduates of Polytechnics, Geotechnics , Schools of Environment, etc.
The above rich activities and in combination with the systematic and dedicated teaching carried out by our staff contribute to the admittedly particularly high level of education provided by our Department. As a result, our graduates of the undergraduate program are already in demand by companies in the sector in Greece and abroad and find a very large percentage of jobs almost immediately after graduation. In addition, based on the first data we have after the completion of the first cycle of our master's program, all the master's students have already initiated the immediate use of the master's degree they receive today for their further professional strengthening and development.
I would like to point out that the master's program provides a significant range of specialized and high-level knowledge and as a result the great effort put in by the master's students to get to today's day of receiving the degree is truly commendable, as the majority of them have also had several other professional and family obligations that could not be postponed. The graduates achieved this because they were strongly motivated and really enjoyed engaging with the subjects of the graduate program. In other words, it is confirmed that something more is always achieved with some, even small, transcendence of our everyday life, and in order to achieve it we must dare and above all love what we do.
Therefore, in congratulating the postgraduates on their success that concludes today, I urge them to continue to pursue their dreams and strive to achieve other professional goals. I will summarize my exhortation with the phrase often used by the late Steve Jobs, father of the Macintosh computer and founder of the Apple company, who during his career created a number of innovative products, impressing everyone with his admirable ability to continue the efforts, even after failure, and then conquer even higher goals: Stay hungry, stay foolish, or loosely translated: Stay hungry for success and do your madness, that is, what you really like!
Congratulations again!"
GREETINGS - SPEECH BY THE DIRECTOR OF PMC-PROXY PROFESSOR IOANNIS PAPADOPOULOS
"Mr. Mayor of Karditsa, Mr. President of TEI Thessaly, dear guests, dear colleagues and graduates
As Director of the 1st Autonomous MSc of the Department entitled "Advanced Methods of Manufacturing Wood Products" of the School of Technological Applications of TEI Thessaly, and representing all the teachers, I welcome you to today's event of the 1st swearing-in ceremony of graduates of our Master's program, and thank you for honoring it with your presence!
All of us who are in this beautiful place today, I believe that we are very happy with the graduation of the first 14 graduates from our Department's postgraduate program, either from the point of view of themselves (the graduates) or from their parents, families, friends, of fellow students, and of course from our perspective, their professors!
Almost 21 months have passed since the first day of our official acquaintance, our dear graduates, since 10/30/2015 when the first courses of the IAS started. We tried – and according to your words and evaluations, we succeeded – our program has interesting courses, teachers who love what they do, modern and effective teaching methods, a clean environment with modern infrastructure and equipment, but – apart from everything the above – and nice and happy events, as you can see in the slides behind me: evening and lunch outings, educational visits to businesses and exhibitions in Greece and abroad, speeches by invited speakers! For all of us who experienced them, they will be beautiful and unique memories!
Of course, apart from achieving the very important and lofty goal of completing the studies, I believe that throughout this time, all of us together, we cultivated relationships of trust and effective communication, created a climate of mutual respect and achieved a high level of professionalism (on both sides); we collaborated with sincere interest, team spirit, fair competition, a sense of justice and recognition of everyone's effort. And so today, and I believe forever, there will be this relationship of affection and mutual joy to reciprocate and cooperate!
It is our greatest pleasure to look into your eyes and hear you talk about your satisfaction with the knowledge you have acquired during your studies in these 3 semesters, knowledge that you can successfully apply in your personal and professional life. We are also happy to learn that you pass on this nice and positive experience to your friends and acquaintances and encourage them to have a similar experience and attend our master's program!
Our dear graduates, please accept my warmest and most sincere congratulations on the successful completion of your studies, but also on what we have shared together these 21 months.
The degree you receive today comes to reward and reward the painstaking and honorable efforts you made to complete a - I would say demanding - program of study!
This success of yours should give you strength and optimism for the future, despite the difficult days our country has been going through in recent years...
All the teachers in this Department, through teamwork, having a very high sense of duty, I believe they gave their best for it!!!
I still want to believe that we have taught you how to learn and that is a key competitive advantage. Nowadays it has been proven that those who have the ability to learn faster than others and spot opportunities more easily survive!!
But you should give your best in everything you do and do it with passion, so that you fulfill your dreams and ambitions, but through principles, values, morals and integrity!!!
Think positive, keep your enthusiasm, draw your optimism from the little joys and beautiful things that can happen around us, and we usually don't pay attention to them and pass them by because we are focused on "problems". I think we should see the glass as half full and not half empty!
We leave last the parents, families and friends, who experienced with you (in some way) this great effort of your 3 semesters of your studies, during which you combined studies, family, work, free time and friends, and everyone they supported you either materially or morally. So once this event is over don't forget to give them a big big hug and thank them!
Our dear graduates, we wish you the best and greatest success in your professional life journey, and rest assured that we will be by your side for whatever you need.
On behalf of MSc, I thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, dear President of TEI Thessaly, dear colleagues and partners, our graduates, for your offer, help and contribution.
Our goal and desire in this MSc is that such beautiful and pleasant days continue for many, many years to come!
Thank you very much!".
