It is announced that on Saturday 29-04-2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the framework of the postgraduate course "Design and Applications of Interactive Systems" by the invited speaker Mr. Nikolas Albanis, a lecture will be given with the title:

Virtual and Augmented Reality Techniques
(Applications in furniture & interiors)

The lecture will be given in the auditorium of the new building of the Department of Wood and Furniture Design and Technology of TEI of Thessaly.

In recent years, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology has spread beyond the world of research and video games and into other fields such as mass media, marketing, education, and industrial design.

The rapid growth of this space has led to unexpected innovations through groundbreaking experiences that enhance the world around us or create a new world entirely from scratch. With furniture as a reference point, the talk will examine the possibilities offered by existing mixed reality technology and cover new techniques and alternatives in design and visualization.

Nikolas Albanis is an award-winning cinema digital effects artist and expert in high-tech topics such as virtual reality and interactive application design. He has been working for the film and multimedia industry since 2007. Some of his clients or partners have been: The Foundry, The Mill, Double Negative, Framestore, NFTS, Ravensbourne London, Smoke & Mirrors, UAL.
