On Monday, May 17, 2021, the Webinar Online event: Agroforestry & Ancient Forest protection is organized by the Green European Foundation, in the presence of MEPs. Related link: https://gef.eu/event/agroforestry-ancient-forest-protection/
Agroforestry, traditional small-scale farming systems as well as multifunctional forest landscapes have survived in many rural areas of Europe (such as at high altitudes and islands), escaping the large-scale intensive farming of land, indirectly supported by the EU's Common Agricultural Policy. In order to make Europe's agricultural landscapes more resilient to climate change, parts of funds such as Next Generation EU (€750 billion) must be allocated to sustainable and targeted conservation and protection projects for these unique European landscapes.
In the online webinar, the member of the Department Professor Michalis Vrachnakis has been invited as an invited speaker for a speech on the topic: The need to revitalize traditional silvoarable landscapes in the Mediterranean. The event is open to the public.
